Yet again the reacurring theme I keep coming back to is climate change. I am totally aware of the fact that there are alot of disasters around the world at the moment, e.g. corona virus, explosions in Beirut, and Black Lives Matter . And these are absolutely horrible situations that need to have focus and to be dealt with.
But personally, I have always been very aware of, and concerned about climate change, our planet and how we are treating it.
Now, waiting for child number four, during (yet another) heatwave in Denmark, I am always concerned about what future my children will have, worrisome about the planet they are forced to take over from our own negligence and abuse.
I totally suffer from climate change depression, but I'm am also well knowing that my children (and the fact that we soon will have four of them) also will set a massive carbon footprint. But hey...humans in general are just bad for the planet. We treat it like shit. But that's why this issue is so important to me. To try to make a positive change, a positive impact, bringing hope and awareness to my children and to the next generation (and to anyone else who will listen).
So about this piece: In the usual logo from Nordisk Film there is a polar bear on top of the globe, and the polar bear in general is a icon of Nordisk Film. But the polar bear is also a symbol of climate change, and is especially exposed to the planets rising temperatures. So I modified the logo, the globe is now without polar bears, and we can only see the dark shadows of this majestic creature that is now gone.

Three Stages of Melting Ice
Three Stages of Melting Ice
Size: 70 x 35 cm
Year: 2020
Media: Mixed media on canvas

I did these three paintings a bit earlier this year, you know, before everything went corona-crazy (you can also read my blogpost about that topic). With these paintings I have gone back to a more abstract expressionistic feel to them. And, of course, the topic is climate change <3

I call this one "Off with their heads"

It is acrylic paint on newspaper articles from 2007 about Ungdomshuset Jagtvej 69. This house functioned as an underground scene venue for music and meeting point for autonomist and leftist groups from 1982 until 2007 when —after prolonged conflict between the users of the house, the politicians and the new owners of the house (Faderhuset)—it was torn down.
Police started to clear the Ungdomshuset building early on Thursday, 1 March 2007. Demolition began on 5 March 2007 and was completed two days later.
This was an extremely emotional time for me, I loved that house (which had alot of other important working class history) I loved coming there, I have heard so many concerts in that house, and my husband and I had our first kiss in Ungdomshuset. Nothing forgotten, nothing forgiven 🖤

Third year in a row, my mother and I have made an installation for Art By The Bay in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. With focus on our use of plastic in general, the artworks are primarily made from reused, recycled or found plastic.

My mother and I have each created two glass heads, which we filled with plastic found in nature.
