This is a political artwork regarding the current situation in Myanmar. The country has been in turmoil since the army ousted the civilian leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, in a military coup in February 2021, launching a bloody crackdown on dissent that has killed more than 900 people according to a local monitoring group. Since the coup, hundreds of thousands of people – cutting across ethnic, religious, generational and gendered divides – have engaged in both protests and strikes all over the country, wellknowing they at risk of losing their livelihood, jobs, even their life. The demonstraters want democracy and do not want to return to military rule, as in the past, which is why this protest is so important.
